I can still recall the day I began to contemplate my future. and the verry start of my digital marketing journey Oh I couldn’t find the answer to a question. I didn’t know where I was and where I was going in the middle of a large field with no signboard around. I was just out of school and everyone around me knew what he/she wanted to do with their life. There were some friends going for Government jobs. There were some who would study abroad. Others were pursuing the general line of activity and achievement of their original families.
But me? I did absolutely nothing, not knowing what to do.
One Thing That Sparked My Digital Marketing Journey
Though I had no plans, I knew there was one thing: I really liked the internet. All day everyday I spent hours on it. Watching videos. Browsing on social media platforms. Reading random articles. Even sometimes discovering new things by chance. I didn’t ever imagine that I would be a racing car driver for the Internet. At the time it was purely something for fun.
How I made the discovery to digital marketing.
One day I heard the term Digital Marketing. I know nothing about it, I thought at first. It was a large and complex contraption. But the more I read, the more interested I became. Digital marketing in plain English, is the growth of businesses through online. I had this concept for a long time in my mind.
This gave me more knowledge and I felt like I should enroll in Dotin digital Academy in thrissur.
My First Day at the Dotin Digital Academy
First day was very nerve racking for me. I had worries in my mind that didn’t look like these: “What if I’m not good enough? With everybody else newer than me? If I make a wrong decision what will happen?
Once I moved in though, all of those doubts began to go away. The classroom was basic and hygienic. There were computers. There were whiteboards. There were students, this time positive ones and then as many as me who were equally apprehensive. Its knowledge that I wasn’t alone among the novices reinforced me.
The teachers themselves were very kind, too. Avoid going straight into the hard topics. They began by discussing the fundamentals: how companies are able to connect with customers via Google, Instagram, and websites. For the first time, I experienced the internet next to my body as a student, not a consumer.
Learning the Basics
The early classes were on simple yet important concepts. We found out about how search engines operate, the qualities of a great website, and the way brands converse along with people online. At times, there seemed to be a lack of understanding. I would need to read the same lesson 2 or 3 times. I put a lot of question marks.
Gradually my terror gave way to curiosity.
It’s a place you speak with love.It’s a space that you talk with goodness.
One of the most thrilling lessons was on online advertising. I was always drawn to the ads I see on YouTube, Instagram, and websites. I sort of used to believe that they cropped up out of nowhere.
Then I learned the reality — that all ads come from real people. An individual is selected to view that ad. A budget is determined by someone. Another person writes the message and decides when it would be shown. This person is a digital marketer.
After this lesson I never looked back. It was as though we discover a secret door in the web.
Getting Hands-On
Classes were increasingly practical as the weeks went by. The word “listening” was no longer just hear-able, we were now hearing and we were hearing, doing things! We’re taught by the creation of simple sites. We gained knowledge on how to make websites visible in google. We have learned that social media tools can help a business to grow.
I even had the opportunity to work on a real campaign during training. As was noted before, the way I got to the last button saw my hands shaking a bit. But at that very moment, I found something that was important, I can do this. These were not rock ‘n’ roll Bible lessons. I was developing real-life skills there.

The Hard Days
Not all days were laid. Some days proved to be difficult. Campaigns were set-up correctly. I overlooked little but significant details. I found myself getting squanderful at times.
Not the teachers, though. They will repeat the instructions. They told us that the learning process is a learning process and that it is normal to make mistakes. Other students also were helping. We expressed our uncertainties. We laughed about our silly mistakes. It was more of a team than a classroom.
How I Changed
I began to slowly build up my confidence. I started to take on a different perspective on the internet for me. As I woke up to Instagram, I noticed the brands creating their caption. I went to search on Google and was thinking of why some sites are on top. The web was a complicated beast, and I liked working it out.
The most important thing that Dotin Digital Academy had to teach you — digital marketing isn’t about the tools and tricks. It involves creativity, patience and willing to learn. At other times, the idea is successful. At other times it doesn’t. If it doesn’t, you tweak and then you try it again
Where I Am Now
I am here today to proudly proclaim that I call myself a digital marketer. retrospectively, I am thankful for the beginnings of it all. I was a confused student, I did not know what direction to go. One little step – to join that academy in Thrissur – changed my entire way.
Digital marketing is a dynamic field, constantly changing. We never hooorstidh rein taught, so it’s necessarily always something new to learn. Each project is an eye-opener. I choose this road to small victories in my day, telling me why.
